PeerFly

One of the most popular affiliate networks for smaller website operators is Peerfly. They have over 4000 offers in many niches, including travel, dating and make money online/bizopps. Many of their offers are of the CPA type so you'll get paid if somebody buys something on the vendor's site after clicking through the link from your site.

Peerfly's advantages include the fact that it is designed for smaller volume publishers. It also has ads in many different niches.

Finally there are a wide range of payment options so they're a useful option if you're not able to use PayPal.

A useful backup affiliate network, but I've had far more success converting direct affiliate offers rather than the ones Peerfly have on offer.

Here's my review of the Peerfly affiliate ads platform.

I think I joined Peerfly in around 2012. I had built a range of successful niche sites. Then the disaster came and I had to remove AdSense from two of my best performing sites. Yikes! So I started to look for alternative revenue streams. A further disaster came in 2014 when I got banned from PayPal for not reading their T&C's which they'd changed but not told me about. Unlike Google, PayPal don't give you warnings, so your online empire can come crashing down on the whim of some clueless idiot in a call centre.

Right, onto my review of the Peerfly ads platform:

Good things about Peerfly:

1. They have a good range of advertisers in a wide range of niches. They also have a lot of general offers that will work for just general traffic.
2. There are a good range of payment offers and they're not reliant on PayPal. This is a good thing because if you're totally reliant on PayPal then you're heading for a potential catastrophe.
3. The reporting systems are nice and it's easy to do some useful analytics on your data.
4. Customer support is really good and a few times they gave me some ideas as to which offers would do well for me. They want you to succeed!
5. They've had a go at making a banner rotator which shows offers specific to your niche. This is useful if you can't be bothered to manually choose individual offers to put on your site.
6. The approval process is pretty straightforward. If you're from a Western country and have an existing site, you shouldn't have too many problems. If you're already familiar with dealing with advertisers, then so much the better.

Bad things about Peerfly:

1. There are too many CPA offers that don't stick around for a long time. This is a real hassle as it means you have to keep adding and removing offers from your site. This sucks if you don't have an ad manager type system. And it's annoying that if an offer disappears then your traffic can end up going to shady websites. You don't even get any money from the links.
2. Too many offers are really picky about who they take on as affiliates. I mean I ran a dating site and wanted to send red hot leads to dating offers but they turned me down! Also I found that the best offers in the dating niche need prior approval.
3a. I found it really, really difficult to make money on Peerfly. The dating offers worked reasonably well. But I didn't earn as much with these as I did by establishing direct relationships with vendors. So I'd never use Peerfly as a primary advertising provider in the dating niche.
3b. I tried some CPA offers in the bizopps/making money online niche. I put the ads on Niche Laboratory.com for a while but I never really made more than a few cents. For this kind of niche you'd need a lot of traffic to make anything at all with Peerfly.
4. A lot of the offers are geospecific so you need a way of putting your ads on for specific countries. Again this is better if you're running a large site, or putting their offers on other peoples' sites.

I'll also mention the advertising materials available on Peerfly. Sometimes vendors make nice banners ads and stuff. But sometimes the ads are awful, or they don't make any at all.

At the end of the day what I have learned from different advertising platforms is this:

Internet users are a savvy bunch. They will buy good quality offers. If you put good stuff on your site, they will buy it. So when you're choosing advertisers, you need to go for the best in class vendors.

Peerfly have some good offers on there. For example Fiverr is a good one worth promoting.

However, Peerfly just doesn't have enough of the best in class vendors. If they attract better advertisers, they will make more money for you and I (and themselves).

So I'll give then 6 out of 10. If they had better offers on there, I would award them a much higher score because their platform itself is really nice.

I'll also add that to be fair I only really tried offers in the dating niche and make money online niche. I'm not sure how I would do in other niches like travel or general shopping/coupon sites. Having said that though, dating and MMO are usually smoking hot, so I thought I would have done a lot better with Peerfly than I actually did.
